Wood Shop COMING SOON

The RICI Wood Shop is currently being developed as a state-of-the-art woodworking facility that will specialize in the design, fabrication, and finishing of high-quality, custom wood products. Once operational, the shop will combine traditional craftsmanship with modern woodworking techniques to produce a variety of durable and visually refined items, tailored to meet commercial, institutional, and decorative needs.

The wood shop is being designed to work with a wide range of materials, including dimensional lumber, hardwoods (such as oak, maple, and cherry), plywood, MDF, and wood veneers. Finishing services—such as staining, sealing, and clear coating—will be offered to ensure each product is both functional and visually appealing.

Upon completion, the RICI Wood Shop will be capable of producing:

  • Custom Plaques – Designed for awards, recognition, memorials, and commemorative purposes, with engraved or carved details.
  • Interior and Exterior Wood Signs – Crafted for buildings, directional use, and decorative display.
  • Benches and Seating – Built for long-term use in indoor or protected outdoor spaces.
  • Display Frames and Cases – Suitable for certificates, artwork, or institutional displays.
  • Furniture and Fixtures – Including tables, shelving units, and cabinetry designed for both function and aesthetics.

All products will be made to order, with a focus on craftsmanship, durability, and meeting client specifications.

In addition to production, the RICI Wood Shop will serve as a vocational training program for inmates, providing structured, hands-on experience in the woodworking trade. Participants will receive instruction and supervised training in:

  • Tool and machine operation (saws, routers, sanders, etc.)
  • Measurement, layout, and blueprint reading
  • Safe working practices and shop protocols
  • Joinery, assembly, and finishing techniques
  • Staining, sealing, and applying protective coatings
  • Quality control and attention to detail

This program will equip individuals with marketable skills and real-world work experience, helping them prepare for successful employment in the woodworking or construction industries upon release. By fostering responsibility, technical skill development, and pride in craftsmanship, the RICI Wood Shop will support both personal growth and long-term rehabilitation.

When operational, the shop will provide a unique opportunity to deliver high-quality wood products while creating meaningful change—offering participants a chance to build a future through work that is skilled, creative, and purpose-driven.
